Subject: [CASonline] Lam Rim: Wishing Bodhicitta / Thukdam of Trisur Rinpoche

Dearest Friends @ CAS,

We have completed the fundamental tenets of the holy Dharma through the First and Second Scopes of the Lam Rim teachings, as attached below:

First Scope - Maintaining a Higher Rebirth
( Some masters have taught that Christianity, Hinduism and Islam and many theistic beliefs which propounds a rebirth into the heavenly realms as belonging here !! )

Second Scope - Renunciation ( Self Liberation )
( The Thai, Myanmar, Sri Lankan and other Theravada Buddhist traditions belong to this Scope )

We are now venturing into the Third Scope ( Buddhahood for the sake of all ) of the precious Lam Rim teachings - the Mahayana section.
( The Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other Mahayana Buddhist traditions belong to this Scope )

With endless dedications that CASonline will be of highest good to all.

May all being gain eternal peace and refuge with Lord Amitabha -- "Namo Amituofo !!"

bb & every being  @ CAS of holy, Mother Tara

TOPIC SEVEN
WISHING BODHICITTA ( Part One )
( "The Seven Point Cause-and-Effect for Generating Bodhicitta" )

"Equanimity"
All beings are perfectly equal from the perspective that they all want to be happy and do not want to suffer. Moreover, they all have equal rights to be happy and equal rights to be free from sufferings.
( Since, we all have equal rights to be happy, i possess only a single "right" whereas the infinite beings possess infinite" rights to be happy. Since, numerically, here is "one right" versus "infinite rights", i therefore should rightly sacrifice my "one right" for achievement of the "infinite rights" to be happy of all beings !!** )
[ ** This section is expanded upon by some masters but is technically not within the Seven Point Cause-and-Effect for Generating Bodhicitta. ]
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

ONE
"Recognising all beings as our mothers"
From eternal past, we have been reborn in countless states in samsara. Correspondingly, we have had mothers in every of these past states. In fact, every being has been our mothers countless times in the past.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

TWO
"Remembering the kindnesses of all our mothers - past and present"
These mothers, exactly like our mother in this present life, have been infinitely kind to us. From before we were born, after we were born as toddlers, as teenagers, as adults and even when old, our mothers would unhestatingly give their lives for us. Kindnesses of all beings when they were our mothers were exactly the same as the kindness of our present mother.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

THREE
"Wishing to repay our mothers' kindnesses"
Remembering the kindnesses of our mothers, both past and present, we wish sincerely to fully repay their kindnesses.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

FOUR
"Loving Joy"
Wishing to fully repay the kindnesses of our mothers, both past and present, we wish them every possible happiness and well-being.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

FIVE
"Compassion"
Wishing to fully repay the kindnesses of our mothers, both past and present, we wish them to be free from every possible harm or unhappiness.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

SIX
"Universal Responsibility - the Best Wish"
Wishing to fully repay the kindnesses of our mothers, both past and present, we, ourselves, must take up the responsibility to give them every happiness and well-being and to free them from every harm or unhappiness.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

SEVEN
"Wishing Bodhicitta"
Having taken up the "Universal Responsibility" of wishing to bring all mother senteint beings every happiness and to free them from every harm, we investigate and come to the conculsion that even by being an awesome god with marvelous powers or by being a king / a prime minister / a president in the human realm, we cannot do so effectively.
Only by being a Buddha, an omniscient being, a perfectly Enlightened One free from any defilements and resplendent with inconceivable powers-abilities, wisdom and compassion, can we most effectively do this. So, we generate the wish that, through whatever we do, may we attain Buddhahood for the sake of all mother sentient beings.
( While contemplating the above, do 108 times mantra of your Yidam - Chenrezig, Tara, Yamantaka or others. Or you can do the mantras until you feel the topic has firmly been internalised in your mind !! )

[ Here ends the main points dealing with the Seventh Topic ( Part One ) of all Lam Rim traditions. Firmly do it till it becomes your mind. ]

A Post-Script:

The Nechung Oracle greeting CAS's Teacher, the 100th Ganden
Trisur ( the late Official Head Emeritus of the Gelugpa Lineage )
who sits, enthroned with the respective Tibetan spiritual heads:
the Sakya Trizin, the Drikung Kyabgon and Kyabje Trulshig -
repsenting respectively the Sakya, the Kagyu and the Nyingma
lineages, as the elected exiled Tibetan Prime Minister looks on.

It appears apt that we include a short news report on the "Thukdam" or the "Meditation on Clear Light" during the post-clinical-death period of our precious Teacher, the 100th Ganden Trisur Rinpoche in this issue, the entrance way to the Mahayana - the Third Scope of the Lam Rim.

The Wisconsin University's researchers and professorial staffs remain absolutely baffled over this first scientifically documented case of how a Buddhist meditation apparently triumphed over humanly, mundane death.

For us, of course, we clearly recognise this as yet another skilful play of a Bodhisattva's transcendence.

"To save all creatures,
By tactful methods I reveal nirvana,....

All looking on me as extinct
Everywhere worship my relics,
All cherishing longing desires,
And beget thirsting hearts of hope.

When all beings have believed and obeyed,
In character upright, in mind gentle,
Wholeheartedly wishing to see the Buddha,
Not caring for their own lives,

Then I with all the Sangha,
Appear together on the Divine Vulture's Peak......

Again i am in their midst
Preaching the supreme Dharma....

Throughout asammkhyeya kalpas,
I abide always on the Divine Vulture's Peak
And in every dwelling place. .....

I, being Father of this world,
Who heals all misery and affliction,
For the sake of perverted beings,
Though truly alive, say i am extinct"

-- The Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law ( Chapter 16: Revelation of the Eternal Life of the Tathagata. )
